STYLE CRUSH | Meet Cheryl V!

On a regular day you can probably find me ransacking the internet marveling over some fashionista's cute shoes or interesting color combination. This is how I ran into this week's Style Crush!
Meet Cheryl V, the face and mastermind of "Oh To Be A Muse"! Cheryl has been running her blog for five years now, and takes pride in being a stylish inspiration and to a number of women, including myself! I found her blog on Instagram, and have been a fan ever since! I also recently got an opportunity to speak with her briefly this week. Here's what she had to say:

LC: How would you describe your personal style?

CV: My style is really just whatever makes me comfortable. I try to wear clothes that are pretty effortless, but still chic. You'll typically find me in jeans and hats are my go-to accessory.

LC: Do you have a style muse of your own

CV: Actually, I do not. There are a few women who are always very inspirational with their fashion sense, like Zoe Saldana and Lupita Nyong'o, but I generally just do my own thing. But that's not to say that I don't see inspiration every day in other bloggers and people all around me.

LC: Do you have a favorite fashion era?

CV: I'm a fan of pretty much every fashionable era because you can find gems from each time. The '90s might have been a little weird, but the fashion was so memorable. And people are still bringing back overalls. The '20s are quite stylish because who doesn't love a good flapper look?

LC: What intrigues you the most about fashion?

CV: The thing that intrigues me the most about fashion is how it can be interpreted to fit individual style. Different trends and movements come together each year, but it's how different people wear fashion and make it personal that intrigues me the most.

LC: Complete this sentence for me. What I walk in the room, people automatically think…?

CV: that I'm too young to be there! I'm always mistaken for a teenager. Fashionably, people might think that I'm wearing the coolest hat. Hats are my sanctuary and I like to rock all kinds just about any and everywhere I go.

FUN WITH STEVE!

Having some fun with these Steve Madden "Galactik" Pumps! Definitely on my Fall Wishlist this year! This outfit can be worn for a girls night out, a date, or a wedding! The yellow midi dress is from Jane Norman, but is not available in these parts. Luckily, BooHoo has a similar version for $14! I also paired it with this uniquely shpaed clutch from Ann Taylor for $100! The earrings are from Lane Crawford at a hefty price of $605, but you know we can always find something similar for much cheaper! In fact, River Island has a cute pair of flower studs for $6! (You're Welcome!)

I hope you found some sort of inspiration from this look! Until next time, peace, love, and happy shopping!

STYLE CRUSH WEDNESDAYS | BLAKE LIVELY

"I never think about how other people will respond to the way I dress"

- Blake Lively

I couldn't have said it better myself! You think that hairstyle suits you? Rock it! You like the way those prints look together? Own it! It's 2014! Fashion doesn't have rules anymore! So many people are so concerned about what others will think that they forget to focus on what makes them look and feel good! This is why I adore Blake! Though I've never considered any of her looks questionable, this quote is definitely something for us fashionistas to live by. I've been admiring her looks since the Gossip Girl days. I love the way she mixes high end pieces with more affordable brands. She has a way of making everything she wears look absolutely effortless. This is why she's our Style Crush this week!

STYLE LIFE | SKATER GIRL with Jessica Thompson

This weekend I collaborted with Jay Issacs Photography (Photographer), Kendrick Strachan (Videographer), and Lucy Lu Beauty (Make up Artist) to give you this edgy, street style inspired shoot with Bahamian model, Jessica Thompson. Jay Issacs, the mastermind behind the entire production, expressed that he wanted illustrate fashion intertwined with the urban skater lifestyle. "I've noticed that the skateboard community is growing in The Bahamas, and I also wanted to take Jessica out of her usual, high fashion element.", he said.

We used Christ Church Catherdral's steps, front patio, and the hill beside it as our backdrop, which fit with the concept nicely. We were also lucky enough to recieve help from two police officers, that ensured that the team was safe the entire time.

Jessica was so much fun to work with! She offered us an experience brimming with selfies, jokes, and Taylor Swift songs! (Who can compete with that?!) Overall, we're thankful for this experience; and hope to continue to work and create more magic in the future!

Meet G. Bravo!

Say hello to my first official client! G. Bravo is a hip hop recording artist from The Bahamas and based in St. Louis, Missouri. He wanted me to assist him with creating a few looks for his rebranding photoshoot. He really wanted looks that represented both his music and his island background.  Having very little experience with menswear, I found it a bit of a challenge; but enjoyed every moment of it nonetheless. I look forward to doing more projects like this in the future!
